Happy Birthday to my favorite President

George Washington…”first in war, first in peace, first in the hearts of his countrymen.”

Although largely forgotten by most Americans, Washington’s “Farewell Address” is still remembered and read in its entirety on his birthday every year in the U.S. Senate. I encourage you to read his prophetic words as they speak to the great concerns of our country even in 2012. Washington’s protective ideals for America are a template for contemporary governmental reform. I challenge you to read his words and see if it is not so. If his message is read and heeded, I believe George Washington will be “first in the hearts of his countrymen” once again.

Give me a Workhorse over a Racehorse Any Day

Filed under: Uncategorized — danielhite @ 8:40 am

While some national figures are throwing their support to to their chosen racehorses (i.e. endorsers Cain, Trump, and even evangelical personalities), I would like to “get off the (race) track” and back “on the farm.”  Many have made this Republican nomination process into placing bets on a perceived winner–selecting your throroughbred choice. But may I suggest leaving the track and heading down to your local livestock auction to acquire a proven workhorse that will perform with the character and perseverance necessary to get the job done. One may have an expertise at buying/selling/brokering/trading stock, businesses, or votes for that matter; but politics is all about governance, and governing requires the mettle of moral character and conviction that will inspire the human will into action. Do you want a racehorse or a workhorse? Racehorses are sleek, slick and flashy; workhorses are muscular, dependable and steadfast. Racehorses are breeds of competition and show, workhorses get things done. America, we can’t afford to “horse around” in 2012. Let’s bring our country back home to the values of honesty, thrift, and hard work–back to our roots of family, faith, and freedom. That is why I am standing behind Rick Santorum.

Santorum sweep! I have seen and heard him twice now (Columbia and St. Charles) and his sincerity and conviction are compelling. He’s the real deal. I see a “David and Goliath” moment on the horizon.

The President either doesn’t understand America or dislikes America

How can President Obama mandate religious-based organizations to comply with healthcare contraception coverage? This is a violation of conscience! There is no other way to look at this move than to see it as a direct assault on the First Amendment. Religious organizations of all stripes should unilaterally condemn this gross violation of our most precious of liberties. Religious liberty is at the very heart and soul of our country. It is the very reason for Pilgrims and Puritans coming to America. Religious liberty is the reason for having political liberty–that religious liberty may be protected as a fundamental liberty of conscience. The President either does not understand America or dislikes it the way it was constituted. What is the President of the United States thinking!? Not just religious organizations, but ALL AMERICANS should rise up against this kind of tyranny.

Who can beat Obama?

History may hold the key. Looking backward starting with the most recent past elections, Republicans chose the old warhorse, John McCain to lose to newcomer Barack Obama. Democrats brought in Senate warhorse John Kerry to lose to incumbent outsider George Bush-2. Democratic warhorse and VP Al Gore lost to outsider George Bush. Republican warhorse Bob Dole was left in the dust of a wounded but popular Bill Clinton. Four years previous, old warhorse George Bush-1 succumbed to young and personable Bill Clinton.  Here is the exception: Old warhorse VP Bush-1, tied to his immensely popular predecessor, Ronald Reagan, stomped Gov. Michael Dukakis (and his VP dinosaur Lloyd Benson), probably on the coattails of the emerging Reagan legacy. Conservative crusader/Washington outsider Ronald Reagan stomped the unpopular Jimmy Carter, an outsider one-term president. Even though Reagan holds the distinct honor as the oldest inaugurated President in history, and perhaps deserves a descriptive like “old warhorse,” his strength and vigor and populist appeal eclipsed his opponents. Reagan became the authentic American warhorse.

Now let’s look at today’s contest. Do we really think that bringing in historical warhorses Romney or Gingrich will stand up to the pending onslaught? Does history teach us anything? Maybe Romney is the consummate executive and Gingrich the consummate politician, but are they the right matchup for the battle? I think not. I believe Rick Santorum is that man. I cannot help but compare the currently popular movie, Warhorse, to the epic and lengthy struggle going on in the Republican party now. There is a scene where all the old warhorses, worn out unto death from the uphill pull of massive artillery, are consigned to their mass graves—that is, all except one young warhorse who has the strength and resolve (although not the same bred stature) to survive the day and make us all proud. I believe in the young and virtuous warhorse, Rick Santorum. The experts say he cannot win, but I am not so sure. He possesses the inner strength and character not unlike the equine protagonist. Protecting families, freedom and faith are the core values of the Santorum campaign. He champions them all. Although economics is the dominating election issue, it is a short sighted view of the American horizon. If we bail out the economy without the protection of family and freedoms in mind, what have we accomplished? Priorities of faith, family, and freedom will help guide us through the minefield and barbed wire of economic expediency. I believe in Rick Santorum and his message. I believe he can beat Obama, guide us through the economic turmoil, and help reverse the downward spiral of our culture.

Now, “Theologian-in-Chief?”

Our President better stick to politics because his Biblical hermeneutics is lacking. Quoting Jesus to justify taxing the rich is quite a stretch in application for “to whom much is given, much is required.” Of course, I am sure he learned his Biblical interpretation from his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. (Apparently, Mr. Obama did recall something from those 20 years!)

Besides this gaffe, is it really appropriate to tote, quote, and promote his socialistic wealth redistribution under the guise of religious duty? I think not. His audacity knows no end. That’s what concerns me between now and November.
