Senate Shenanigans

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are truly two peas in a pod.  Shenanigans do not just happen on the Capitol’s south side. Reid is withholding the latest health care bill, as Pelosi did, from the scrutiny of the American people and the press and all forces opposed to it. Due to be brought to a floor vote tomorrow, it will not be read by any Senator voting. This is the greatest of all cover ups, and in an administration of  professed “openness and transparency!”  God help us.  The stodgy Senate with its different rules and platitudes is absolutely no different than its legislative counterpart on the south side.  Power, power, power, the abuse of power is going on behind closed doors, in stacked conferences, and now blatantly open before any watching American constituent.  This is political hard ball, except there is no independent umpire to penalize the players.  These players make up and enforce their own rules. And most of “we the people,” the real umpires, are not even paying attention to the game. God help us.  This is not what America is all about.  God have mercy on us. Lord, reveal the human heart for what it really is, desperately wicked…who can know it, except You, Lord. I call upon You to awake that sense of justice and reason in us to expose this dark falsehood for what it is, and let the light of Your truth prevail and be known that we may be free. In the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord, amen.
