Illegal Immigration and Citizenship

I am no constitutional lawyer, but the 14th Amendment (a Reconstruction era amendment aimed at former slaves) seems very clear to me about citizenship:  Sec. 1.  All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. Being “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” is certainly not descriptive of illegal immigrant parents or newborns, as well as diplomats and staff, and other related situations. (Just because a football is carried into the endzone does not automatically make it a touchdown!) Here’s a good Washington Times article to stimulate debate and maybe help you get this issue clarified in your mind:

This discussion is on its way to becoming a hot, hot issue with a big following.  Get ready for it and know what you believe.
