Two days ago, my oldest brother passed from this life. His memorial service is this Saturday. In the past seven years, we have lost my mother, mother-in-law, and two brothers. I talked with Bob the day before he died. There was a great peace about him. Although he apparently had no way of knowing, he stated that he was ready to go…his “reservation was made and bags packed.” Less than 24 hours later, he departed this life. Bob lived much of his life in the fast lane, but slowed down later in life to enjoy his family more and other things that made a difference. Everybody loved Bob, he was the life of the party and the first to give you the shirt off his back. In these last five years or so, Bob found something that had been missing in his adventurous life. He found peace and contentment in a relationship with Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for a loving church and pastor who took the time to make a difference in Bob’s life. Thank you, Lord, for your grace and your mercy in my life and the life of my brother, Bob. That soon-coming great reunion day grows sweeter.
