America is an idea

America is an idea.  To be American is more than an espousal of citizenship, but it is the embrace and espousal of the ideals that form America’s fabric.  America is an idea…an idea that is founded on bedrock principles that lay at her foundation, just like the rebar in concrete highways.  Without the rebar (short for reinforcement bar), the concrete will crumble and disconnect. The highway will not stand the test of time without the reinforced steel strengthening and connecting  its span.  America must return to her rebar–her founding principles.  We hold these truths! They must be held, protected, defended.  If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3)

Support Good Candidates Like Rohrer

Sam Rohrer is the darkhorse candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor of Pennsylvania. Here is a statesman Constitutionalist running against an establishment lawyer, current Attorney General Tom Corbett. Even though you probably do not live and vote in PA, this is a “must watch” because of what is at stake regarding this essential issue…an “originalist” view versus a “living document” view of Constitutional interpretation.  This issue is the life blood of our beloved republic. We need statesmen at all levels of government–representatives and advocates–who understand and stand by the rule of law and not the whims and sociological overreaches of activist judges.  This question of Constitutional interpretation should become a staple of informed voters inquiring of candidates asking for their vote.  The lines of demarcation are becoming sharply focused.  Are you ready to take your stand?

Support Good Congressmen Like Akin

I am a St. Charles County constituent of Congressman Todd Akin (MO-2nd).   Let me say, unequivocally, that I and my family are very proud of our U.S. Congressman and his courageous and tireless stand for truth and our founding principles, especially during these difficult years.  Congressman Akin and precious few of his congressional colleagues have planted themselves on solid Constitutional, rational, and genuine conservative ground, from which, I believe, they cannot and must not be uprooted.  God bless you, Congressman Akin, for the leadership, honor, and integrity with which you approach your responsibilities to God and country and the people you represent.  May God increase your tribe!

My family and I, unsolicited, have decided to commit every available resource to support Mr. Akin as our representative.  I do not wish for him to spend any more precious time and energy raising funds for his reelection.  While there are strong sentiments and a move to “clean house” in Washington, we the people must take stock and support  those who do represent us well.  I believe Congressman Akin is worthy of that kind of support.  I have had the privilege of spending time with him and his family, both publicly and privately.  He is the genuine article and I want everyone to know it.  Let’s raise enough funds to keep him in Washington and to keep him focused on the issues at hand.  I have great confidence in him and I am asking you to join me in this means of support.

I do not typically endorse elected officials (with precious little financial means…or yard-signs, for that matter!), but desperate times call for desperate measures, as someone has said.  In these perilous times, citizens must take a stand, so I am taking mine…and I am asking you to take yours.  Please contact Congressman Akin’s office today.  If you have a competent representative then support him.  If you don’t know, then you better check it out.  You may be surprised.

Hundreds Pray at MO Capitol

At 12 noon today, a solemn assembly took place invoking prayer for our government, elected officials, and budgetary challenges facing  Missouri.  Hundreds (maybe 1000) participants packed all three levels of the the Capitol Rotunda to pray, hear Ann Graham Lotz, daughter of Evangelist Billy Graham, then prayer walk the halls of our capitol building.  Hopefully, the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 will come to pass if believers will do their part of the verse.

U.N. …there you go again

Nothing much has changed. The radical feminists are still running rampant and attempting to dominate influence over national delegations–and they are as frustrated as ever with pro-life and pro-family groups.  The United Nations’ Conference on the Status of Women (CSW) is no different. All non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) seek to influence (lobby) delegations representing the nations of the world. Conservative NGO’s are outnumbered probably 3 or 4 to 1, yet even a little light can still dispel the darkness. Approved documents were not a conservative as we may like, but neither are they as liberal as the opposition intended them to be. Darkness cannot overcome even the dimmest of light. What if the light was not present?

People often ask why we might spend our time, resources and energy at a morally/ethically corrupt and philosophically flawed place like the United Nations. Is not the whole organization and process an exercise in futility and globalist propagandizing?  Well, that may be so from an American point of view, but one would be hard pressed to convince the smallest and frailest of nations of what may appear obvious to us. Little nations have one vote, just as big nations do.  Many small nations have experienced more freedom and equality since the U.N. has been around.  They are grateful for being recognized and brought to the table. However, with that recognition comes a greater risk of manipulation and intimidation. There were in excess of 6,000 attending the CSW. One might be surprised at the number of Christian delegates attending a conference like this; this is more likely true of the more colorful nations attending rather than the white, European ones that dominate the power structure. All in all, it only takes a tiny spark of encouragement to ignite the smallest of opposition that can block a railroad of anti-life/anti-family momentum. That is what happens at these conferences.

The Lord tells His disciples to occupy until He returns.  It is this type of ministry that shakes just enough salt to restrain corruption and shines just enough light to dispel the darkness. One could ask the Apostle Paul why he would “waste his time and resources” on the city of Corinth.  How many other places have the nations of the world converge in one place? It is a golden opportunity to share a message and virally influence the nations of the world.  A little well-placed salt and light can make a world of difference.

Bye BAYH!

Bayh calls it quits…

Here’s a sample of Evan Bayh’s (D-Indiana) voting record: FOR socialized medicine. FOR hate crimes legislation. FOR Obama’s pork-barrel spending stimulus bill. FOR taxpayer-funding of groups that promote abortion. FOR card-check legislation. AGAINST English as our national language. AGAINST efforts to preserve marriage as the union of one man and one woman. AGAINST the confirmation of Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito. AGAINST domestic oil exploration. Only in a party dominated by liberals like Barney Frank, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi could a record like that be considered “moderate.” (Gary Bauer- “End of the Day” 2.16.10)  Only in America!!

Hubris…the “I’s” have it

Hubris shows no deference no matter how one states it. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). It is beyond the pale, that the President, as chief executive standing in official capacity before the other two branches of our government, would lecture the highest court in the land in such a public and official setting. I am surprised Justice Alito was the only reactionary.  For one who touts his judgment over his experience, it appears there is a grave deficiency of both…and half of Congress applauds him!  “I, I, I, I” is what we hear all the time and the 2010 State of the Union address was no exception.  We must pray for those in authority- 1 Timothy 2:1,2.

The prophet Isaiah has given us a hope-filled word:

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them…For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Might God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore.  The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.   (Isaiah 9:2,6,7)

This is the good news of Christmas! May you and your family experience the love and care of our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace–Jesus. O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

Shameful Senate Snow Job

As two feet of snow is dumped on D.C., the Senate has dumped their own snow job on the American people….Dems now have the 60 votes they need to push through a health care bill they have yet to read!  I can hardly wait for Election Day! I hope the American people have also had enough of this incompetence and political expedience.
