Spontaneous mob violence, like what happened in D.C. yesterday, is just a form of “groupthink.” Bandwagoning is another form of it.
But those leaders who condemn the violence (and it should be condemned) can also get sidetracked by the “groupthink” and miss the opportunity to lead on the real issues. The focus of election security reform and defending our Constitution is too easy to lose in the heat of the condemnation of violence. Violators should be condemned, apprehended and removed from the general public. And in the same way, national leaders who will not stand up, focus on the truth and act, should also be condemned and removed from public office. You have no business running a country if you just react and do not thoughtfully act. The middle ground has gone. Fair-weather patriotism is history. If Congress does not ask “why?” and thoughtfully act, the people will.
